A fill starts at $25 at US Nails, and most people come in every two to three weeks. There are six kinds, and which one you need depends on what is already on your nails — not on what you booked last time.
What a fill actually is
Your enhancement does not wear out. Your nail grows. After a couple of weeks there is a visible band of natural nail at the cuticle, the balance of the nail shifts forward, and it starts looking grown-out rather than fresh.
A fill closes that gap and rebuilds the balance so the set sits right again. It is quicker and cheaper than starting over, and it is the whole reason one good set can last months instead of weeks.
The six fills, and what each one is for
They are priced by the work involved, which is why they differ. Here is the honest list.
If you are not sure which of the six you are, you do not need to be. Come in and we will look at your nails and tell you — and if a cheaper one will do the job, that is the one you will get.
Fill or new set — how to tell
A fill is right most of the time. Start over when:
- You want a different length or shape — a fill maintains what is there, it does not redesign it.
- Several nails have lifted or broken. One or two can be repaired at a fill; a set that is going at multiple corners is telling you something.
- It has been a very long time and the grown-out area is now most of the nail.
We would rather do a $25 fill than talk you into a $35 set, so ask. The answer you get here is the one your nails call for.
What happens if you stretch it too far
The set gets top-heavy. Weight sits out at the tip with new, unsupported growth behind it, and that is when nails catch on things and snap — usually at the worst moment. A nail that has started to lift is the bigger problem, because it lets moisture in underneath.
None of that is a disaster and none of it is a lecture. If you have gone six weeks, come in anyway. You will be told honestly whether a fill still does it.
What to expect when you come in
A fill is a shorter visit than a new set. It is also the natural moment to change colour, and there is no upcharge for picking something different — bring a photo if you have an idea. If your natural nails have been peeling or splitting under the enhancement, mention it: IBX is $35 on its own, or $15 added under your colour, and it repairs the nail as it grows out rather than sitting on top of it.
